Dr. Sam Daniels

Gynaecologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon

Biography

I am a minimally invasive surgical gynaecologist based in Sydney, Australia. I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at James Cook University. I have worked across Australia, including working in Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Rockhampton, Brisbane and Cairns whilst undertaking general obstetrics and gynaecology training prior to completing an additional two year Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgical (AGES) fellowship. This was undertaken at the Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre (SWEC) under eminent leading surgeons in Australia and I am now a level five/six surgeon and am now accredited to complete the highest level of complexity in gynaecological surgeries. My skills and contributions in the space of Minimally Invasive Surgery has been recognised by my colleagues and from 2024 I will be recognised as an accredited AGES Supervisor with a surgical fellowship program that will be primarily based out of the Northern Beaches Hospital. In the public setting, this means that I will have the opportunity to pass on my surgical knowledge, experience and skills to future trainees whom will be attached to me for a 2 year fellowship.

I have also completed a Masters of Minimally Invasive Surgery, through the University of Adelaide. This is a higher postgraduate qualification reflecting additional study and training in the area of minimally invasive surgery with a strong emphasis on robotics. This masters focussed on the foundations of surgery, learning from the leading surgeons both theoretically and practically whilst also providing a platform to embrace any future developments and innovations in the area.

I have worked in women’s health for over a decade and feel strongly about providing holistic and compassionate care for women. I have extensive surgical experience and I operate out of the Northern Beaches Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. My personal interests include endometriosis, pelvic floor prolapse, abnormal uterine bleeding and non-mesh alternatives to urinary incontinence. I remain heavily involved in medical education and research and I am the clinical lead for the Macquarie University Obstetrics and Gynaecological program through the Northern Beaches Hospital. I have both public and private admitting rights and work as a visiting medical officer in the public gynaecology unit at both North Shore Public Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital, in this role I contribute to ongoing medical education and teaching of aspiring gynaecologists undertaking training.
